You may first want to check to find out if the business name you have selected is already being used by someone else. Click on DBA Search and enter the County and business name. The search result will tell you if a DBA with that name has already been filed in that County.

To start the application process, click on FILE & PUBLISH DBA and enter the information requested. This information will then be used to complete the appropriate fictitious business name (DBA) form. Our database includes the standard forms for each County Clerk/Recorder ("County") in California. (All forms are in PDF format and require Adobe Reader for viewing. To install, click on the icon below.)

A DBA must be filed with the County before it can be published. Publication must begin within 45 calendar days of the file date.

Once you have finished entering all of the information to complete the form, you will be given a second chance to review it and make any necessary changes. We will also show you the total price for the order. When you indicate the information is correct, you will be asked for your payment information.

If your request is for us to file and publish:
Please enter your credit card payment information online and your order will be completed.
Please print the form and sign it. The County will not file the form without an original signature.
Mail the form to P.O. Box 54026, Los Angeles, CA 90054 or your local office listed under Contact Us.
Please note: If the registrant or business name is a corporation or limited liability company, you must also send a copy of the Articles of Incorporation or Article of Organization for that name. This copy will be sent to the County along with your form.
When your form has been received and processed by us, you will receive a confirmation letter by email.
We will have your form filed with the County indicated on the form. The file number and file date must be included in the published notice. A certified copy of the filed form will be mailed to you after it is filed with the County. This certified copy is usually required by banks to open your business account.
Publication of the notice will be scheduled after the form is filed. The notice is published once a week for four consecutive weeks. If your filing is in a county where the Daily Journal owns a newspaper, we will publish your notice in our own newspaper. (Daily Journal Corporation owns newspapers in the following counties: Los Angeles, San Diego, Riverside, Orange, Santa Clara, Alameda, San Francisco, Sonoma and Sacramento.) If your filing is in another county, we will place your notice for publication in a legally qualified newspaper.
After the last date of publication, a proof of publication will be filed with the County and a copy of the filed proof of publication will be sent to you. The process is complete once you have received the filed copy of the proof of publication.

If your request is for us to publish only:
Please enter your credit card payment information online and your order will be completed and published. Nothing needs to be mailed to us.
When your order has been processed, you will receive a confirmation letter by email.
